Dell sets out to provide end-to-end enterprise solutions

Dell World announcement targets BYOD, big data and security.
Dell is set to tackle BYOD, big data and security concerns with new releases announced at its annual event.

The company, which was taken private by CEO Michael Dell in October for $25bn, is using Dell World to stress its end-to-end approach to enterprise infrastructure, and revealed a range of solutions for mobility, cloud and data centre security, analytics and data protection.

Its Enterprise Mobility Management is a unified solution providing mobile device management, application management and content management as well as featuring a Secure Remote Access gateway to establish secure endpoints.

EMM will provide IT with the ability to configure and define security and compliance policies for iOS and Android smartphones, Windows, Android and iOS tablets and more, claimed the company.

It will be sold as an annual software subscription starting early next year in the US and Canada.

Dell has also updated its security offerings, with its SonicWALL solution incorporating network security, mobile access and email security, which feed into the firm's GRID network, helping analyse and combat the latest cyber threats.

New backup solutions such as its NetVault Backup 10 seek to address data protection issues.

NetVault features a new web-based GUI providing larger scalability, the firm said, as well as integrating with the deduplicatio applicance, the DR6000.

Software president John Swainson said: "By focusing on today's challenges, including security, mobility and business intelligence, we make it possible for businesses of all sizes to enhance the capabilities of their datacenters, boost employee productivity and maintain compliance.

"By innovating and continually transforming our end-to-end solutions portfolio, we easily adapt to the ever-changing needs of our customers, and help IT become a valuable partner to the business."

Dell also announced storage and network solutions earlier this week at Dell World.
