The iPhone 5S is 2013's highest trending consumer electronic device, according to Google's new list.
The
company posted its top ten highest trending consumer electronics this
week with Apple's device leading the pack and was followed by other
popular products such as the Galaxy S4 which came in second and the
PlayStation 4 which came in third.
The rest of the top ten
consisted of the Xbox One which came in fourth, the Nexus 5, HTC One,
iPad Air, Blackberry 10, Galaxy Note 3 and Nokia Lumia 1020 that
followed in this exact order.
The iPhone 5S and Galaxy S4 also
made it into Google's top ten highest trending topics for 2013 which is
an impressive feat for Samsung who landed in the eighth spot. Apple's
placed a little better coming in third. The highest trending topic for
the year was Nelson Mandela followed by Paul Walker. Other topics that
entered that list included Cory Monteith, Harlem Shake, Boston Marathon,
Royal Baby, PlayStation 4 and North Korea.
Both of these lists
were derived from Google's Zeitgeist 2013 report which also included top
10 searches for People, Events, Athletes, Google+ Hashtags, Performing
Artists, TV Shows and Videos.
The iPhone 5S launched in the fall of this year and became one of
Apple's highest selling handsets. The device features the new
fingerprint sensor, an A7 chip with 64-bit capabilities and a slightly
new design. It was released alongside the lower end iPhone 5C which
ended up not making the list.
